WHO WE ARE
Background
Dr. Bicknell is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R), also called Physiatry. With advanced diagnostic capabilities, Dr. Bicknell has focused on providing nerve and muscle testing since 1988. He holds two board certifications. In addition to his primary certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) (1989), he is also board certified in Electrodiagnostic Medicine by the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine (ABEM) (1992). The ABEM examination is the only U.S. exam certifying physicians in Electrodiagnostic Medicine, and the ABEM certification signifies that a physician has passed the most comprehensive examination. This certification also demonstrates to patients and colleagues a high level of quality Electrodiagnostic Medicine and a dedication to the specialty. Dr. Bicknell exclusively provides electrodiagnostic studies, but also practices Electromyography as a Diplomate of the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine. Area physicians have come to depend on his exemplary care for reliability and quick results, which allow them to better treat their patients. Dr. Bicknell founded his practice in 1988, and became an AANEM accredited lab with exemplary status in December 2012.
Make Sure your EMG test is performed by a qualified physician
EMGs and nerve conduction studies are excellent diagnostic tools when performed correctly by skilled physicians who devote much of their practice to this specialty. A test done poorly can lead to unnecessary surgery or delay important treatment.
For an accurate diagnosis, physicians and patients should insist that:
The physician has specialized EMG training and is on the premises.
The physician is either a certified Physiatrist (a physician specializing in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation) or Neurologist.
State-of-the-art EMG testing equipment is used.
Physicians are board-certified or eligible by the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine.
Additional Information:
Exemplary Care
We are proud that our EMG lab is accredited by the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine with Exemplary Status, the highest level of accreditation a laboratory can achieve under the AANEM Accreditation Program. These certifications and accreditations acknowledge the hard work and continual training of our physician, and our dedication to bringing our patients the best care. AANEM is a nonprofit membership association dedicated to the advancement of neuromuscular, musculoskeletal, and Electrodiagnostic Medicine.
